Where can I get a TxTag?

Getting a TxTag and opening an account is easy. To open a TxTag account, go online to www.TxTag.org or call the Customer Service Center at 1-888-468-9824.

When can I contact the Customer Service Center?

TxTag representatives are available to take your phone call Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You may call toll-free 1-888-468-9824. You may also visit our walk-up counters at 12719 Burnet Road in Austin on Monday AND Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Tuesday to Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Can I save money if I get a TxTag?

Yes. TxTag customers always pay the lowest rates on toll roads across Texas. In Central Texas, drivers with an electronic toll tag save 25% on tolls. Pay By Mail customers pay higher rates than drivers with a toll tag to offset costs related to processing the license plate information. In addition, drivers who Pay By Mail are charged a $1.15 administrative fee on each monthly bill.

Can I use my TollTag (NTTA) or EZ TAG (HCTRA) to pay tolls in Austin?

Yes. TollTag (NTTA) and EZ TAG (HCTRA) are accepted on Central Texas toll roads, and toll charges will be automatically deducted from a customer’s prepaid toll account. Be sure to keep your toll account information up-to-date to avoid extra fees.

What is "Pay By Mail"?

Drivers on Austin toll roads have the option to receive a monthly bill in the mail. Cameras above the toll lanes will photograph the license plate on vehicles without a toll tag, and the vehicle owner will receive a monthly bill for toll charges. The Pay By Mail toll rates are one-third more than TxTag rates to offset costs related to processing the license plate information. Also, a $1.15 administrative fee is applied to each monthly bill.

How often will I be billed?

If you have a TxTag account, your tolls will be deducted automatically from your account when you use the road. If you do not have a TxTag, you will receive a bill every month that you carry a balance.

What is the $1.15 charge on my bill?

An administrative fee is applied to each monthly bill sent to customers without a TxTag to offset the costs related to processing the bills. The fee is $1.15 regardless of how many times you use the road each month. You may ask to receive your bill by email at no charge.

Do I have to pay if someone else was driving my car on the toll road?

Yes. Under Texas law, the vehicle owner is responsible for any toll charges, regardless of who was driving. If you are concerned about a charge, please call the TxTag Customer Service Center at 1-888-468-9824.

How do I update the information on my TxTag account?

You can update your address and phone numbers by logging into your account on www.TxTag.org or by calling the TxTag Customer Service Center at 1-888-468-9824.

What should I do if my TxTag is lost, stolen or damaged?

Call the TxTag Customer Service Center right away. Until you notify us, you are liable for any tolls, fees and charges on your account. Please note that there will be a charge of $13.85 to replace a lost or stolen TxTag sticker if you are not signed up for AutoPay.

What if I sell my vehicle?

If you have a TxTag, call the TxTag Customer Service Center right away to deactivate your tag so your account is not linked to a vehicle you no longer own. Even though your vehicle has been sold, you are liable for toll charges until the title is transferred or until you submit a vehicle transfer notification.

I think the bill I received was incorrect. What should I do?

To discuss a bill, contact the TxTag Customer Service Center at 1-888-468-9824.

I am a TxTag, TollTag or EZ TAG customer. Why did I get a bill?

  1. You could receive a bill if your tag was not detected and your license plate does not match an existing account.
  2. You could receive a bill if the credit card information on file with your account is not up to date.
  3. If you're a TxTag customer, you could receive a bill requesting payment if you did not have enough money in your account to cover the cost of your tolls. Note: If your TxTag account balance falls below zero and your account is suspended, you will be charged a fee of $8.50 to reactivate your TxTag account.
